Matwork Teacher Training

The Body Control Pilates Matwork Teacher Training Course

This course is seen as the most comprehensive matwork course available. After attending the 12 tuition days, you must then undertake a period of ‘supervised teaching’ to develop your teaching skills to a level where you can teach part of a class as your final teaching assessment. You can fit this around your own schedule. You also need to complete some coursework and pass two multiple choice written exams as part of your certification.

UK National Standard and European Standard for Pilates

For those wanting to make Pilates teaching their vocation, it is vital that you choose the right training course, a course that puts equal emphasis on the teaching of Pilates theory and anatomy and on the development of practical skills and client assessment.

Now that the Pilates industry has a UK national standard for Pilates, in association with SkillsActive and the Register of Exercise Professionals; a European Standard in association with EREPS. It is important and wise that you select a training provider that has been approved against that standard (Level 3 Pilates Teacher).

Body Control Pilates has received that formal approval and can therefore provide the best possible start to your teaching career. The course, in fact, far exceeds the requirements of that standard. Once qualified, BCP will continue to offer you unrivalled support and access to a comprehensive programme of professional development.

Why train with Body Control Pilates?

Body Control Pilates has received the formal approval by the UK government and can therefore provide the best possible start to your teaching career. In fact, the course far exceeds the requirements of that standard.

The BCP matwork teacher training course covers more than 100 exercises - many unique to Body Control Pilates - and, importantly, we teach you to assess and progress clients, adapting exercises as appropriate, and take the client step-by-step to the advanced ‘classical’ exercises created by Joseph Pilates.

You will be equipped to teach one-to-one and group classes and gain the ability to draw on the knowledge given to you through the course for planning effective classes for a wide variety of clients. Teaching your clients with the movement skills needed to gain maximum benefit from Pilates.

This matwork teacher training course is outstanding in terms of its breadth and depth of content, and of the variety of experienced teachers from BCP that you will work with during your course. There is also a unique support network to help you through your tuition and your post-course assessments through to the setting up of your Pilates teaching business.

Once qualified, you will become a member of The Body Control Pilates Association, a ‘not for profit’ organisation with over 1400 members that exists to safeguard the quality and standards of Body Control Pilates teaching, as well as to provide a unique support network for Body Control Pilates teachers worldwide.

The development programme offered by Body Control Pilates ensures that all BCP teachers have a unique competitive advantage. In a recent survey of Body Control Pilates teachers, 75% stated that they do not advertise, as their classes were full as a result of referrals and word of mouth because of its quality.
